On completion of nine years service with the Royal Navy I entered the thatching industry as an apprentice with Norfolk Reed Thatchers Ltd; of Henley-on-Thames with additional training provided at the CoSIRA Thatching Training School in Northamptonshire..

I have since worked as a self-employed thatching contractor for more than 40 years. I have a wealth of experience covering Water (Norfolk) Reed, Combed Wheat Reed and Long Straw styles of thatching.

My aim is to offer an inclusive service to owners of thatched properties.

I provide free estimates, together with detailed specifications for recommended thatching works from general maintenance and re-ridging to complete re-thatching.

All my work is carried out to the standards & specification as laid down in 'The Thatchers Craft'  (published by Rural Industries Bureau 1961).
